Hideto John Mori

Piano — Walton High School

Hideto John Mori is an aspiring pianist living in Marietta, Georgia. John began learning piano at age five and is currently studying with Edith Schiff. He has distinguished himself by winning numerous competitions, awards, and opportunities to perform in masterclasses: first place in AMTA Romantic Competition and NDMTA Bach Competition, winner in the Ruth Kern Concerto Competition, second prize in the ENKOR International Music Competition and the American Protege International Piano Competition, merit award from the National YoungArts Foundation, and masterclass award in multiple GMTA state auditions.

John has attended several summer music festivals, where he studied with renowned faculty and performed in various venues. In 2013, he attended the Lee University's International Piano Festival under a scholarship from the Atlanta Music Club. In 2014, he attended the Georgia Governor's Honor Program as a piano major. Last summer, he attended the Brevard Music Center Summer Festival, where he won first place in the high school division of the piano competition.

John is a senior at Walton High School where he plays cello in the orchestra, directs the music pit in the school drama productions and performs in the Aurelia Piano Trio. John performs regularly in the Atlanta Music Club Performers concerts as well as at retirement homes. Outside of music, John enjoys cross-country running, watching TED talks, and reading.
