Andrew Sehmann
Horn — University of Georgia
Andrew Sehmann is a horn player from Richmond, Kentucky. Currently he is studying for his Master's degree at The University of Georgia. In Athens, Andrew is the principal horn of the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the Southern Wind Quintet. The Southern Wind Quintet does educational outreach programs and community service within the Athens Area, teaching children about the wind instruments. he is also a substitute horn for the Chattanooga, Augusta, South Carolina Philhamonic, Hilton Head, and Albany(GA) Symphonies. He has also appeared as a member of Brevard Festival orchestra in 2012 and 2013, and as a member of the Eastern Festival Orchestra.
In addition to Orchestral and chamber playing, Andrew is an accomplished soloist. He began his soloing career at age 16 when he won the Borchardt Concerto Competition in Central Kentucky. He was a runner up for the International Horn Society's Premier Solo Competition, and a winner of the Barry Tuckwell award and the John Hawkins Award in 2016. In addition to this, he has soloed with Eastern Kentucky University's Symphony Orchestra three times. While at EKU he also performed a guest artist series at the University of the Cumberlands in 2014. He has also performed in the Central North Carolinal Area as a member of various chamber ensembles, including an opening for a new exhibit of the Asheville Art Museum.
