The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta's November 2000 concert featured Peter Zazofsky, Violinist, accompanied by Shirley Irek, Pianist.

Peter Zazofsky

Peter Zazofsky, Violinist

His twenty-year career has taken him to over thirty countries as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. He has performed with many of the great orchestras in collaboration with Maestros Tennstedt, Ozawa, Ormandy, Sanderling, and Dutoit. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In recital, Mr. Zazofsky has performed in Carnegie Hall, Sala Cecilia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and many others. He is also the first violinist of the Muir String Quartet.

An award winner in several competitions, including the Avery Fischer Career Grant, Mr. Zazofsky has studied with the finest teachers, including Joseph Silverstein, Dorothy Delay, Jaime Laredo, and Ivan Galamian. He has been featured in two books about master violinists, and has been extensively reviewed for outstanding performances around the world.

Shirley Irek , Pianist

Miss Irek was born in Croatia, and is currently a resident of Atlanta. She was educated at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the California Institute of the Arts, and the Julliard School, where she received her Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in performance. She has firmly established a reputation as a leading collaborative pianist and her critically acclaimed live performances and recordings continue to place her in high demand.

Miss Irek performed in a two-piano team for over 15 years, touring Japan, Africa, France, Portugal, and the United States. As a member of the Broyhill Chamber Ensemble, she performed two critically acclaimed recitals at Carnegie Hall. As a soloist, she made her formal debut at the age of seven with the Toronto Chamber Orchestra. While a student at the Juilliard School, she won the Mozart Concerto Prize and performed with the Juilliard Orchestra under Sixten Ehrling at Lincoln Center.
